NOTES ON TRAUMA FROM AN EXPERIENCED THERAPIST

The way he touched you,
it was a long con. It was two
minutes, maybe three, out of a whole
lifetime, but that math
is deceptive. It was
a lifetime tightly rolled
into itself and he left
it in a place only unsafe men
have been, one end of it
hanging loose
and unbound. It’s that unbound
end that binds you.
Some moments you will feel
it there, steadily
unrolling with the normal movements
of your slowly unwinding body.
