WE RUINED OUR TEETH

We ruined our teeth with sugar,
spitting them out and up into the night.

They hung there to guide us back
to childhood and home.

Teeth stars made of sugar, hard,
to bite us back to who we were, who we are,

sweet creatures of imagination,
shapes made of negative space,

gritty with the truth.
