TEMPTATION
A snake stretches its body to peel off old skin.
I wonder when the itch starts. I grew up listening
to stories of Eve’s temptation. Did the snake start
the shed when Eve bit the apple? Did Eve shed
her skin too? I wandered naked in a garden
and took a bite of a woman. She saved me.
They called me cursed and dangerous.
