Lizeth De La Luz
MOTHER TONGUE ;
            You exist beyond what I can say
An unidentifiable mourning
Burning between my lips
Dismayed at an effortless
Protest
Of uncertain voice
That departed with a tragedy —
Entombed
            Fleshless in passing
            a doddery cenotaph
            of gravel breaking in a family tree dividing
            language a blood-rushed translation
            lost in this home
