Many hip labral tears cause no signs or symptoms. Some people, however,
have one or more of the following:

Little purse of pain,
little suture and wait,
some women hoist
a child on their hip,
swaying to balance,
but I travel with you.
Sometimes twinge,
sometimes ache, times
you disappear for weeks
before roiling back, keen
with weather. Little barometer,
tell me what news? We’ll chat
about the day in the garden,
reminisce about that hike
in the mountains and how,
lightheaded with height
and thin air, we once slept
so soundly. The next day,
gripping a cable, we wound
our way down through hills
of vast gentle cows,
bovine hips jutting and slow
and accompanied by bells
as we moved among them.
